Catarot Privacy Policy
Effective 5 September 2026 · Package com.harestudio.catarot
1. What we do not collect
Catarot never asks for or collects:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your date of birth — you pick your sign from the twelve directly
- Precise location
- Contacts, photos, files, microphone, or camera
- Account credentials — there is no login at all
2. What stays on your device
The following is stored in the app's own storage on your device and is never transmitted. Deleting the app removes it.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Zodiac sign (one of twelve) | Used for the horoscope and compatibility |
| Reading history and notes | So you can revisit them in the archive |
| Streak and progress | Shows how the cat reader has grown |
| Settings — language, reversed cards, and so on | Remembers your preferences |
3. What travels to a server
Catarot connects to Google Firebase Cloud Firestore to fetch the daily horoscope text. This traffic is read-only — the app writes nothing back. As part of serving the request, Google may process ordinary connection data such as your IP address.
Catarot does not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Authentication, or push notifications.
4. Advertising
Catarot shows rewarded and banner ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, AdMob may collect and process:
- An advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, iOS IDFA)
- Device information such as model and OS version
- Approximate location inferred from your IP address (city level)
- Ad impressions and clicks
Google is the party collecting this data; we do not access it individually. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
5. Your advertising choices
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland: we present a Google User Messaging Platform consent form on first launch. You can change your choice at any time under Settings → Privacy options in the app.
- iOS: we request App Tracking Transparency permission. Declining changes nothing about what the app can do — you simply see non-personalised ads.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
Refusing consent does not limit any feature of Catarot.
6. Children
Catarot is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Deleting your data
Everything stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app. To clear it without uninstalling, use your device settings: Apps → Catarot → Storage → Clear data. Because we hold no user data of our own, there is nothing to request deletion of.
Step-by-step instructions are on the data deletion page.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be announced inside the app.
